Technical Functionality :
- Adobe Flash Player: After you agree to Adobe’s Flash EULA, CloudReady will assist you in seamlessly installing Flash-Player, which will work the same as on Chromebooks.
- Geolocation: CloudReady does not support geolocation services, so websites (including Google Maps) will not be able to determine your location.
- Android Apps: CloudReady does not support use of ported-Android apps available on some Chromebooks. In the Chrome web-store, these apps will appear as “Incompatible”.
- Webpage Translation: On foreign language websites, your browser may offer to translate text. This feature does not function on CloudReady and no translation will occur if you click “Translate”. (The Google Translate website, translate.google.com, does work.)
- Google Hangouts Screenshare & Draw: Hangouts is supported, however “Screenshare” and “Draw” are not functional on CloudReady.
- Media Format H.264 / MP3 and MP4: These media formats are proprietary and not supported on CloudReady for EDU customers. As of v44 these codecs are supported for free-users only.
- Netflix: The resources necessary to securely playback Netflix are not currently supported on CloudReady. As of v45.1 streaming widevine playback is supported for free-users only.
- Files App Sharing: In the local File browser app, the “share” functionality does not work. This function must be used from Google Drive interface in the web browser.
- Microsoft File Formats: As of CloudReady v45, this extension is missing and cannot be installed. MS Office file formats are only recognized from the Google Drive Web interface.
- Security: While all user data is encrypted, CloudReady does not support TPM or OS verification. BIOS passwords and bootable-device security are strongly recommended after install. See the Chromium OS documentation for technical details.
- Updates: To maintain compatibility, updates are delivered directly from Neverware. Neverware supports all Google releases after v43, but on a modified schedule.
- Powerwash: Powerwash is disabled on CloudReady to avoid deleting Neverware customizations. Reinstall using by following standard instructions to wipe a machine.
All items on this list are subject to change, and Neverware provides no guarantee of support for features not mentioned here.
